10 Simple Ways to be Happy

Some people tend to complicate happiness, as if they have to have solved every problem in their lives, relationships, and even the society in order for them to finally declare that they are happy. I’ve learned that, as what people always say, happiness does start within yourself. But if maybe your mind is too busy, angry or confused and you don’t know how to tell your heart to be happy, here are 10 simple ways to help you start your day with a fresh and clear mind:

1. Post a large ‘good morning’ note near your bed. When you wake up, you easily greet yourself a good morning.๐Ÿ™‚ Even if you’re not alone, it’s different when you remind yourself that you plan to have a good morning.๐Ÿ™‚

2. Clean your room. If you toss and turn at night with so many things going on in your head, it won’t help to have clutter surrounding you when you wake up either. Help clear up your mind by decluttering your room first.

3. Wear clothes for your size. It will make you look great and feel great, too!

4. For women, put on your make-up. Celebrities aren’t as perfect as we think they are. They look perfect because they prepare for it. Wearing make up gives you a polished and fresh look that people always welcome. And again, when you know you look good, you smile effortlessly and sincerely too.๐Ÿ™‚

5. Surround yourself with positive people. I’m not talking about people who deny that there’s anything wrong with their lives. I’m talking about people who choose to count and savor their blessings than those who compete on who has the worst life.

6. Play music that makes you feel good about yourself, that makes you want to dance and sing when you’re alone.๐Ÿ™‚ Just make sure you’re not disturbing anyone around you.

7. Eat good food. If you’re watching our diet or you can’t afford to eat that everyday, set a day in the week for it to have something happy to look forward to.

8. Paint your walls a light color. It opens up the space, and every morning will seem brighter.

9. Get some fresh air. There is nothing like the wind blowing against your face! You can always close your eyes and imagine you’re at the beach, imagine you’re flying, or simply be grateful for the air around you.

10. Be thankful. It really pays to occupy your mind with the good things. Even if problems exist, at least you’re not carrying them around with such a heavy heart.

Sometimes being happy isn’t so difficult. Sometimes it really is as simple as doing things that make you feel good. Before you know it, you’ll have a more positive outlook again because you’re treating yourself better. Then you start saying to yourself, “I deserve a better life than this.” Good morning!๐Ÿ™‚

Philippine Art Fair

Philippine Art Fair

I’m not sure if we’ve ever had an event like this in Manila in the past, but it definitely feels like a first!

I sure do hope we have these exhibits coming in more often, and I plan to join them at least once in my lifetime.๐Ÿ™‚ And I swear, being there felt more like home than my own interior design school! Next time, I need to remind myself to work up the courage to chit chat with the artists.

One day, Diana. One day.๐Ÿ™‚

I took more pictures from the event, but I have yet to learn how to attach more than one photo per post.

For now, you may check out the official site at

God’s Simple Gifts

I’m having a pretty bad day today.:-/

The contractor isn’t exactly performing up to par and tends to be quite stubborn. But then again, I’m a newbie in this profession, so I’m sure there are things I still need to learn as well. I don’t exactly have a boss or a mentor, so I don’t really have a go-to person to help me in addressing construction problems in general. I got to talk to the contractor properly just a while ago, but feeling that I’ve got a lot of responsibility in making the client happy feels like a big weight to carry… especially since it means dealing with a stubborn contractor. (Seriously, he can do something about his tone. It makes me doubt whether I should trust him.)ย When I got home, I pretty much fell on my bed and curled under my blanket.

But of course, God wouldn’t let my day end that way. He made sure that:

1) I had fun spending time with Mom today. If you know me, this is actually a big deal.

2) My boyfriend calmed me and reminded me that there is always a solution. Maybe something’s gonna give, but something can be done nonetheless.

Last but not the least,

3) Mom was saying she wanted to make a collage of photos for her Facebook cover photo. I told her she needed to get the dimensions of the cover photo on FB. A few moments later, I found her measuring the screen with a ruler! HAHAHAHA! #facepalm

With that, it looks like I can breathe more easily tonight.๐Ÿ™‚

I just came from watching Les Miserables (It started screening here only this week), and I guess I’m on a high from the movie–the very story, the [film] production, and even the memory of reading the book when I was in high school. One day, I hope to see the musical, too. Hope it’s still around when I get the chance.

Victor Hugo is a downright amazing writer. Obviously. From what I’ve learned, sharing stories changes lives. His story of Les Miserables has changed mine and will keep changing mine every time I encounter an opportunity to be cruel or to be kind.

Anyway, I know my writing skills are a far cry from Victor Hugo’s, but as far as I’m concerned, I will tell my story here in the hopes of changing even a moment of somebody’s life.

Because each person is worth it.

Business options

My Dad just told me I should think about trying to take on his business.

I love being anย entrepreneur, so the thought of it excites me. But my primary line of work is being an interior designer, so I don’t really want my attention to veer too far away from it…to think I still have a board exam to take. Ideal situation is that I need to take it on only when I’ve also already been able to establish myself as a designer.

Ideal situation is to have both. Best option–increase manpower.

This sliver of a thought (which is probably a lot more real than I think) is why today definitely changes everything.

I’m so happy with this theme! I LOVE that the pictures are practically taking over the screen, especially if you’ve got that retina display. And I absolutely love this bold sans serif font over here. It’s just so me.๐Ÿ™‚ Now it’s just time to fill up this blog with stuff to make me happy and hopefully others too.๐Ÿ™‚
